Joy Comes in the Morning

Psalm 30:1-5 (ESV)
Joy Comes with the Morning
A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.
I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
O Lord my God,  I cried to you for help,
and you have healed me, O Lord,
You have brought up my soul from Sheol;
You restored me to life
from among those who go down to the pit
Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime
Weeping may tarry for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

The poem below is what came to my mind
when I was watching the storm clouds gather as it started raining.
Some days, I allow things that are of no real
concern to consume my mind.
With that same thought process -
I know that God hears our pleas
He hears the broken hearted
He hears the heaviness we carry
God will always want to give us Joy.
God always gives me the words and once I put them down
I am always uplifted and encouraged.
I hope you feel the same after reading.

Today the sky is gloomy, dark and grey
no happy invitation to come out and play.
Clouds of grey, blue and white
The brightly shining sun hidden from sight.
Puddles gather here and there on the ground
Finding my inner child, I begin sloshing and splashing around.
A slight drizzle falls from the sky into my eyes as it pours down
I look up, embracing the cleansing freshness that erases my frown.
I notice the newly budding flowers soaking up the moisture in their leaves,
Ready to show us the splendor of what their deep drinking will achieve.
I see Robins and wrens playing in their own small puddles
Reminding me of the joy we are all seeking to find amidst our troubles.

Dark skies will come to us one and all, the darkness, especially the gloom.
Then, after a period spent in the squall and storm, sunshine will resume.
So, on the days when you're not able to embrace the storm that is all around,
Quietly instead embrace the quiet reflection of the lessons sure to abound.
Wait for the sunshine days ahead that will quickly chase the gloom away
Pack away your melancholy, dark thoughts - don't allow them to stay.
Approach your days with a full expectation towards feeling love and joy
Train your mind to see the positive side, to know the gloom comes only to toy.
Step toward a brighter future knowing that you will survive this gloom
Knowing the darkness will not forever stay, step aside and give it room.
Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning
Reach up and keep his promise close, you will strongly rise from your mourning.
Dark skies are here today, for now, there is no other way
Joy comes in the morning, thus we know it's true and soon it will always stay.

Be blessed and know that you will pass through
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
God promises he will protect and carry you safely!

Letting Go of Expectations

Letting Go of

EXPECTATIONS

What does it mean to let go of expectations?

What are expectations really?

Are they a set rule of behavior?
Are they full of promise - or mostly of disappointment?
Expectations from others are almost always
setting you up for disappointment.

Why?
Because,
Expectations have no rules
Expectations have no boundaries
Expectations keep you in bondage
Mainly;
Expectations will be different for everyone
Expectations
can ruin relationships
can ruin blessings
can ruin trust
can ruin your heart.

 Letting go of expectations
Can Heal a relationship
Can bring freedom to your life
Can allow blessings to be poured out
Can heal a heart they didn't really break
Can restore trust in others
Can allow you to be FREE!

I have filled my cup at Jesus' feet
I have been blessed by many situations
that could have been much worse

God has softened hearts
God has softened even my own heart.
I have also learned much through the years
by ignoring God and others.

Taking care to listen to the silent whisper
To listen when you know
that the 'whisper' is talking directly to you!

You cannot look backwards to where you've been
while you are still trying to go forward.

Lot's wife tried to do this -
Looking back when leaving Sodom
She was turned into a pillar of Salt.

Why Salt?
 my thoughts on this are;

WE are the salt
We cannot lose our flavoring.

Mark 9:50 says:
Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness,
how will you make it salty again?
Have salt in yourselves,
and be at peace with one another.”

Have Salt in yourselves,
And be at peace with one another.

Letting go of expectations is one way to do this.

Don't expect others to do as you would do.
Others are not YOU
They will not have the heart you do
Others will not act exactly as you would

Don't expect to receive if you are not giving
of yourself
of your talents
of your wisdom
of God's calling.

For now
I am going to be letting go
of my own expectations

I will seek God's favor
I will seek God's guidance
I will not look back.

The past called -
it had nothing new to say
So, I hung up!

Our past experiences mold us going forward.
However,
We can't stay in the same place forever.

Just like a rear view mirror
you cannot focus too long on what is behind
or you will miss
what is right in front of you
What you are meant to see
right now.

Freedom comes when you
release the bonds of expectations
release the ties of the past that holds you back

The future is in front of you
Reach out for it
Share your gifts with others
Share your love with those who need it
Be available
Anything is possible
when you first believe.

Seek God and his guidance
He will lead you exactly where you need to be

He will show you the path where you
LET GO
Let go of expectations of yourself
Let go of expectations of others
FOLLOW
Let God guide your steps
Let God guide your thoughts

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding:
In all your ways, submit to Him,
And he will make your Paths Straight."

In closing,
I leave you with a
Promise verse from

Psalm 32:8

"I will instruct you
and teach you
in the way you should go;
I will guide you with my eye."

Be blessed!!
